History?
« on: April 15, 2007, 10:22:26 PM »
i thought about electronic music and i want to know something about techno outside of germany. in the past years years electronic music lost all plattforms over here (besides internet).. there are just two magazines left.. tv and radiostations doesn't want to play dancemusic.. at parties.. you always see the same people.. the same act.. playing the same shitty records over and over again.. pcp split up.. marc is doing hardstyle.. miro is doing this "in" music minimal/click techno stuff.. the crowd is more and more interested in 80's housecovers..

they are wearing long hairs looking metrosexual and dress like monkeys.. in the past there were dark, dusty basements with just S.T.R.O.B.E. and a hell like fog machine.. people were dressed like a homeless.. the good old times.. i feel sick.. i feel sad..

tell me.. is this just a german problem? or is it a global problem like AIDS or knut?

They are still busy with figguring out: what does "techno" means...
But i worry, it's not just a german problem, but in this massive way with pushing other styles away it is, i guess...

Any time amigo
I've never been a part of the Dutch techno scene but I guess you mean with techno also the hardcore related stuff. Since 98 I hardly visit any parties. Just because the music became more & more mainstream, a gabber was someone with no hair, bomber jacket and an aussie (or 2 or 3…) instead of the feeling inside. ID&T blew up the scene, indeed PCP split up, friends where only friends if I had dope or money etc.

people were dressed like a homeless
Remember that I actually saw homeless ppl in the Fun Factory in Zaandam. We shared some weed and enjoyed the music. Good old days.

What happened in the 70’s with the hippy parties? Or in the 80’s? Think the music (and his people) adjust itself to the time. If you see metro sexuals dressed as monkeys, than that’s a reflection of the society.

Aids solves the overpopulation on this globe, Knut makes some kids happy, that’s fine with me. I’m more concerned about global warming. This makes water scarce, ppl flee to “better” places, terrorism rises. And guess what: the US has to intervene everywhere now, not only in the Middle East. Fuck Aids, fuck Knut, the real problem here is the sick government in the White House.

you would like it in london, at techno parties we get the worst type of scumbags - pikeys, gypsies, travellers etc...

but seriously, the scene is very dead here also.  I think mainly because of the extortionate drinks prices in clubs in london and also because so many promoters have been ripped off by the club owners.  there are so many empty club nights, most people just cannot be bothered to go out anymore and would rather go to their local pub and get pissed or stay indoors and get pissed. there is the commercial happy hardcore here which amazingly is very popular still but this is for the kids who have no clue about music.

last weekend i saw joey beltram and andreas kramer spin at a large club but I think the promoters lost a lot of money as they had to chrage £23 entrance to cover their costs so a lot of people stayed away

But to be honest, it was that already a bit before 98. I can show you a schoolclass picture of mine from 1995, 8 of the 10 guys were "gabber".

I agree about the US. But I think the biggest problem is the human being in general.

I live in Zeeland, always been an backward region ;)
No seriously, you're right, but 97/98 it was really terrible, also the music became in a big depression. Everybody was copying eachother.

i live in münster.. once a time we were some of so called fortresses in the german techno scene.. with the famous cosmic club which is already closed... and the fusion club. westbam was born here. now fusion club isn't that ultimate techno club like in the old times... we have christmas bam once a year and sometimes mysticland..

but thats all over now. now its in to move to berlin and produce some clicksounding groovy life is a flowerfield music..

now im in search for a country to live where techno is still doomy and dirty.. only condition must be: no french talking or lifestyle..  :D

and no 24 pounds entrance fee like in london.. i heard birmingham must be that cool.. because of british murder boys and female and all that industrial stuff..

man.. im getting old.. maybe this is my first midlife crisis.. i dont know.. i need some alcohole now

hahahaha, english people and their metric system...
length, weight, money, driving, temperature...everything is different, but still an EU union hahahaha
no probs here, except for the beer prices @ the DTB parties  ;D

no seriously...over here there are still dark parties, with strobo's and homeless like dressed people, but normally you only see it in real underground stuff or illegal parties
the stuff I visit, so I don't feel like having a problem ;)

in london we have 2 techno scenes

1. Jeff Mills, Derrick May, Richie Hawtin etc... detroit and minimal style for people with goaty beards who like to stroke their chins at parties. events held at commercial clubs like fabric, the end, seone

2. Chris Liberator, Rowland The Bastard etc... acid techno for people who like to drink 15 cans of stella and sniff huge lines of ketamine. events held is disued warehouse buildings
