Let guests read the board?
« on: December 19, 2006, 09:37:11 AM »
Guests can read all topics now, but shall I disable this so only members can view the content of the board?

Ofcourse! I always hate if somebody tries to send me a link for a thread from another forum and i am not allowed to read it cause i am not loged nor register.
In my Opinion Information is like Music, they should be available for everybody at everytime everywhere.
If somebody realy want to post and influence this here Active he will register sooner or later. I am pretty shure about that.
On the other hand it makes me some kind of feeling important finally , if i can say: Members Only.... ;)

On the other hand I hate it when people are reading but not contribute. Or copy/paste links of music files (I know, I do it myself too ;)).
Like yesterday: 12 guests, 1 member online... those guests must have something to say right?

That's true, but then there's the risk some lame ass people post more and more crap on this board. Now only people who really "love" planet core will register. Isn't that what we all want? Only the true fans ;)

I see this "True Fans" Critical. I mean, PCP is such a big Theme you are all very proffesionell with that, for somebody who just likes the Music but isnt that deep into the Word of Planet Core some informations might be also very interessting, but he thinks maybe for itself that his answers are not "good" enough to be postet. I hope you understand in what i way i mean it. Some people just could get the feeling of not beeing "into it" enough to post, but still wanna read the stuff...
brrr, i hate the english language... lets do this board in german, then i can express myself better... and another thing: if you realy looking for more (active) members this forum should be spread harder on the web.

Where did you got this from? ;)

No, I agree, but...a BIG but
If there is 1 thread with posted music links or something, that one should be locked I guess
Otherwise, people will always be guest, never post, and only use your bandwith on the server, for downing stuff

just my opinion

hm, it could be a nice way like they do it at livesetsonline.com in the forum, that you can just see the links if you registered or there even better, if you posted a comment, that could leave to spam or, hopefully, to the fact that the user who posted (his mix) get always feedback on this mix which should nice for him...

Nice one Sander, will install it after doing the upgrade to v1.1.1
But first have to adjust the new v1.1.1 files manually otherwise we have some layout problems
