Music / Re: What are your most played records?

There are lot of those, but...
SP 23 - Network 23.
Fucking amazing.. back in 93 when i heard it first time and even today.
Odd thing is tho.. that all the other SP23 or spiral tribe stuff in general
aren't worth listening at all.

Oh dear. i had many enemies, that i remember, i used to be hard to pleased by anything. i guess thats how it still is, but i've learned to not to say most of it so strongly nowadays.

haha, i remember you where an awful bastard to please with music alright. are you still on the gabber list by the way?

Not anymore. Lots of spam and meaningless political discussions. So i left. Also ppl were talking about newer styles. There really haven't been that much new good releases after 2000 :/ Im still more intrested about the older 92-98 stuff or so...

..if not misled by vague college time memories i did also semi know this finnish disruptikkk dude, but xybo - you'll never be able to tell 'cause it was probably even pre my icepick alias years, hahahahahahh.   >:D

I once said traffik's new record was terrible on gabber-list and said i liked epiteth. so what happend. he released record on epiteth (epiteth17) and it had track named distruptikk, with all the elements i hated back then. i was punished for good :/

But yeah. Nice to "see" ppl back from the tracking days.

Yes. You do. At least i remember those DGR/UVR-whatever thinggies pretty well.

yeah, i remember making some faster shit back then and sending you on some tunes for your opinion. you always had some good insight from what i remembered, you still making tracks? using trackers or what?? any chance of a listen?

Yeah. As mentioned above. I do music nowdays with Akai MPC 4000 as a sequencer/sampler and TB303, TR909 more or less with them. Some stuff is made with newest renoise. So still tracking more or less (MPC's seq is more or less quite tracker).

Im very very busy at work so i have very little time to do music anymore. More or less on/off tracks for myself (no real tracks). Here's some acidic stuff: myspace link.

Maybe i'll put some real tracks there aswell soon.

Thousands of record of different styles. Heres couple that came to my mind

Choose - Sufficient Relatives EP (Highland Beats Tech 8 )
* almost only lasse i dont have
-- xybo

u have labworks 73?

My friend had it.. It was misspress. The tracks didnt hold very well on their groove. So tunes vere carefully extracted and corrected to cdr. So i have the cdr of it and my friend made dubplate for himself of it and sold the original record for something like 250e+. Ive heard the other 12"  are quite same :/

If the record would have been playable in dj gigs i would have bought it. I buy record so i can play them.. not just collect.

I was often in Sweden and checked there ofcourse Recordstores (which where hard to find and most of the time without "techno vinyl" and in the cd shops, you where aible instead of techno to find dance.

Well. Thats quite true here aswell. If you want to buy hardcore records you have to use all the same net recordshops as others + ebay / gemm. We used to order a lot of stuff directly from Steffen at Sound Base years ago and it often meant that you had to order almost whole catalog 'cos there wasn't any clips back then and selling those you didn't like to others ;)

Arcade did good work with Thunderdomes, and ruffneck/knor had quite a good distribution in finland. (They even played here with Ruffneck/KNOR crew back in ..umm '94)

Time Machine / Scene @ Helsinki, Finland. (Answer to PLACID's question)
« on: January 15, 2007, 11:03:58 PM »
PLACID asked my about the scene in Finland. I didn't know which part i should have put it, so i put it here.

DISCLAIMER: This my view of the scene. Some other finn might say something completely different. ;)

Techno is actually not dead in here. We have 2-3 international dj's playing at in local clubs almost every weekend. From Jeff Mills to T.P.Heckmann, Speed Freak to Dynamix II, Lasse Steen to Bass Junkie etc... and of course all big trance names like Armin, Ferry Corsten and such. There are few bigger organizers for big dj's and festivals and dozen for smaller parties around finland. Most of the parties are on 4 biggest cities.

There are at least dozen finnish artists releasing techno almost monthly on different german/uk labels and some smaller finnish labels too. And same amount of other artists releasing trance and they infact call finnish trance sound as a "sauna trance".

Hardcore scene is pretty small. There is something like 5-10 hardcore or hardcorish parties a year. Only couple of hardcore djs including me and those who organize parties more or less play themself too. There used to be more Gabber sounds available back when the "THUNDERDOME 1-10+" were released.

Me and my friend were almost only ones playing early frenchcore, industrial strength, drop bass network kind of sound.

Freeform / hardtrance / hardhouse / hardstyle... scene has been growing steadily and with it. Hardcorish sounds have been coming more accepted as well and BPM's rise often over 170BPM.

PCP/Doomcore or so called darker slower / industrial sound is quite rare. Some industrial/rhythmic noise parties play this kind of sound more.

DJs are moving more and more to MP3 playing. Burning CDRs or using SERATO and such. That has ment that djs have started to experiment with stuff they didnt have before and that will hopefully open some new scene and blood to scene. (Altho i hate those djs that only download al their music from the internet and play those only).

Any questions? My mind might have drifted to much on the writing?

Name: xybo aka Disruptikk / Painwalkers...
Date of birth: 12-04-1976
City: Helsinki
Country: Finland

Started to collect records early 90s something with UK Breakbeat / Belgium rave stuff (thanks to H8!Machine) and slowly turned to gabber/hardcore and acidic stuff. ~94 started to make own tracks and '95 first live gig. Still do some DJ:ing and live gigs. I like all kinds of darker atmospheric tracks and early stuff (93-95 hardcore). Find my way to this forum via link to Choose live set. Nowdays producing more or less acid/hardacidic stuff (mpc 4000, tb-303, tr-909, mc-202, jp8000.. doing stuff like 303 nation, biochip c, lasse steen and laurent ho). My name might be familiar for some of the ppl from the discogs as i was one of the first hardcore mods and added quite a many records there.

Still looking for that older evil sound PCP and some others had. While i released couple of speedcore records with my friend (as Painwalkers) im not that much into 300bpm+ stuff anymore from the harderside.. maybe older Dead End, Epiteth, Fishkopf sound is also my perfered "industrial sound".

thanks..
