bored with "dance music"?
« on: February 27, 2007, 05:47:32 AM »
i'm finding myself becoming a bit disillusioned with "dance music" as a whole these days. i listen to a wide variety of it, from electro to drill'n'bass to ambient to speedcore to jungle but to be honest these days i am mostly listening to indie rock, old pcp stuff and classical music on the whole.

am i just becoming bored with it all or is it all turning to shite?

I know what you mean
lately I am listening a lot of "Opgezwolle" (dutch hiphop)
but I think that the electronic love will take over soon enough
last night I even listened to some old "1989-1994" oldskool house/hardcore stuff
so I am not worried ;)

I began also with Hardcore... ok, more Gabber (it all came with Thunderdome), then I explored PCP and the sound of ACA and all that (and it will definitly last)... these days it's mostly various Techno... but since many years i listen also to a lot of Rock and Metal-stuff like Motörhead, Goldfinger, S.O.D., old Sepultura, Billy Talent, Johnny Cash... and to Yann Tiersen - one of the greatest musicians of our time in my opinion... to the electronic music of some friends and to some totally different stuff...
I'm not bored with Dance music, but it's definitly not all! The need for harder stuff is still there, but I also often need the opposite....

My entry was chicago house but back in 1986 this was fresh sound, followed  by acid and ebm and Gabba / Hardcore since  1992 I`d say.  And I´m still not bored.

bored with the stuff that's being released these days, i hardly buy any new records anymore. but my record collection is more than enough to keep me occupied.  occasional punk/metal gig is good for me

let's replace pizza with pussy.... do you still think the same than?

Only listen to the older hardcore stuff, let's say till 1998. Just some stuff produced later is worth listening too. But I listen to rap/hip hop a lot. And don't get bored listening to that.

Staying diverse and varied in music avoids you from getting bored - I dig the Dubstep scene a lot and IMO it has totally succeeded in bringing a fresh vibe across. You see people with vast differences in musical preferences coming together and making innovative, futuristic sounds!

Hopefully...at the moment there are more inoovative free tracks in germany then in the shops.
They are forcing they hypes here, without accepting that the people do not buy those records except from the djs who are ptomoting those release in every forum they are knowing and elling them afterwards at ebay in hope, they will get as much money as they paid for  them.
